Where they were
The DC Group, owned by Tina and Dee, joined us on QuickBooks, and we moved them onto Xero as part of bringing them on board.
What we did
We run weekly bookkeeping to keep pace with a busy field-service business, access their supplier and partner portals directly to pull statements and remittance information, and keep their job management software and Xero working together as a single source of truth for invoices and payments. As they've grown their team of engineers, we've had regular conversations with Tina to help forecast whether they can afford to hire, and what additional turnover a new engineer could bring in.
Where they are now
The DC Group has grown its team of engineers from one to three, and the systems we put in place when they joined us have scaled with them. The bookkeeping, invoicing, and reporting processes we built haven't needed to be torn up and rebuilt as the business has grown, and every decision to add a new engineer has been backed by a proper look at the numbers first.
Industry insights
Field-service businesses like The DC Group deal with a high volume of jobs, invoices, and supplier statements every week, so keeping the books, the job management software, and payments all in sync matters. Growing a team of engineers is also a real financial decision, not just a hiring one, so we make sure The DC Group can see the affordability and payback of each new hire before they commit to it.
