Where they were
Josh came to us running Hayes Sales Outsourcing and Hayes Renovations as two separate businesses, both growing steadily on their own.
What we did
As both businesses grew and started building up profit, we carried out a restructuring project, using a share exchange to insert a holding company, JHayes Holdings, above them, so profits could be moved up and reinvested tax efficiently rather than extracted and taxed personally. Alongside that we manage his bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, year end accounts, personal self assessment, and dividend and remuneration planning across both businesses.
Where they are now
Both Hayes Sales Outsourcing and Hayes Renovations continue to grow, and the group structure now in place means Josh can move profit between the businesses and reinvest it efficiently, rather than losing more of it to tax than he needs to.
Industry insights
Running two separate trading businesses side by side often means paying tax twice over, once to extract profit from each company and again personally, when a holding company could sit above both instead. Bringing multiple businesses under one group structure at the right time means profit can move between them and get reinvested where it's needed most, without the same tax drag, and it puts a founder in a much stronger position if one business wants to fund or support the other down the line.
